Another day trip for us from Fallsburg KY this one was only 40 min away to Huntington West Virginia. We told Aubrey we were going to hike which she wasn’t in the mood for but instead surprised her with a visit to Kustom Kreams. This fun ice cream shop makes the ice cream right in front of you cold stone style but from a liquid form then they scrape the ice cream into rolls. Aubrey and Warren both loved watching it get made. Both workers did tell me that it is definitely a work out making all the ice cream. I can only imagine how their forearms ache on busy days. We tried Strawberry, Turtle Brownie, and Birthday Cake Cookie Dough. All three were very delicious and finished quickly. Another bonus point for this place was their dishwasher safe spoons that change color when they get cold! Of course we got one of each color to take home and experiment with what else would make them change color.
After we had finished I asked one of the workers for a suggestion of a good park in the area and he recommended Ritter Park and that it was really pretty. It did not disappoint, this huge beautiful park had a garden, a huge walking/biking loop and a large playground next to the water. The park also had a large number of trees that were occupied by people using them for their hammocks which was really cool to see people enjoying and relaxing in them, taking naps, reading books with their kids, or simply looking at the water. Ritter park was a great place to visitand definitely a selling feature to the neighborhoods around it for its size and beauty.
